More Subaru special editions. (more…)

There’s an onslaught of Subaru special edition cars coming out this month in celebration of the company’s 50th anniversary. This one’s the Subaru Legacy Advantage Line, available on the Touring Wagon 2.0i and B4 2.0i sedan. Special equipment list after the jump. (more…)

I had to take a break from blogging because it was taking too many minutos. In the time that I’ve been away, there’s been a roostertail dust cloud of news from Subaru. In no particular order, rumors of a 450hp were floated by AutoExpress. This picture isn’t really of the car, but the idea of a hopped up Subaru wagon gives me heart palpitations to the nth degree.

Finally, a special edition car that gets my blood flowing. Here’s a dedicated performance version of the already potent Subaru Legacy tuned by Subaru Technica International, better known by its initials STI. (more…)

Subaru has just launched a suite of driving assist technologies on its JDM Legacy lineup called “Eyesight.” It warns the driver when pedestrians cross the car’s path, prevents unintended acceleration when both brake and gas pedal are applied simultaneously, has a lane departure scanner, monitors drivers to make sure they’re awake, and has the ability to set cruise control to follow the car ahead by a certain distance. As part of Subaru’s ongoing 50th anniversary celebration this year, 50 lucky winners will get ¥500,000 credit when they buy a new Legacy to use towards the Eyesight.

The Cold War-style competition to develop the most massive weapon of mass hoonage has reached another level. In one corner, you have the Mitsubishi Evo X MR, whose power has been pumped up to 305hp flowing through a paddle-shift SST transmission. In the other, the Subaru Impreza WRX STI Spec C, slimmed down via aluminum body panels, thinner glass and a smaller fuel tank. Power upgrades are unknown as of yet. The Auto Express article also mentions a hi-po version of the Legacy is in the works, code named S402.

Subaru celebrated their 50th anniversary earlier this year. On March 3, to be exact. That was the day sales of its first production car, the Subaru 360, was announced. To honor the occasion, Subaru has been giving away fantastic little trinkets all year. The latest is the customer appreciation day, which will be this weekend, April 12-13. Just go down to your local Japanese Subaru dealer and enter to win this neato Subaru 360-shaped USB mouse or a set of collector’s pins.

First shown as prototype form at the Osaka Auto Messe, these Subaru mountain bikes are undergoing testing right now, expected to be released at the end of April. No word yet if they will come with a special edition Subaru model, although the car they’re sitting on on the pic is a Legacy Outback Wagon
