It sounds like a disease, but Anesis now means “sedan” in Subaru-speak. When the third-generation Impreza debuted at the NY Auto Show in 2007, the sedan version was not meant for the JDM market. It’s available in North America, Singapore, Russia and Israel, but it hasn’t sold well in the US so maybe now Subaru is trying to recoup their losses in Japan. (more…)

I had to take a break from blogging because it was taking too many minutos. In the time that I’ve been away, there’s been a roostertail dust cloud of news from Subaru. Not content to let Toyota and Nissan have all the fun, Subaru has also announced plans to run an Impreza WRX STI at the upcoming 36th ADAC Zurich 24h Race 2008, or Nürburgring for short. Obviously, it’s going to run in a different class than the Lexus LF-A, but that doesn’t mean they’re not going for the Class A championship. Super GT series drivers Toshihiro Yoshida, Hideo Matsuda, Naotaka Hattori and Kouji Matsuda will pilot, and Subaru’s prepared a website devoted to the event coverage

The Cold War-style competition to develop the most massive weapon of mass hoonage has reached another level. In one corner, you have the Mitsubishi Evo X MR, whose power has been pumped up to 305hp flowing through a paddle-shift SST transmission. In the other, the Subaru Impreza WRX STI Spec C, slimmed down via aluminum body panels, thinner glass and a smaller fuel tank. Power upgrades are unknown as of yet. The Auto Express article also mentions a hi-po version of the Legacy is in the works, code named S402.
