Ah, it must be nice to work for a big name auto website. Not only did Inside Line get to go to Portugal on a press junket to drive some Nissans around in scenery that’s probably more beautiful than my wildest dreams, they got a sneek peak at a new RWD coupe for the Infiniti lineup. It’s based on the 370Z and possibly will be powered by a 2.5L V6 while the upcoming Silvia successor will get an inline four.

New Nissan Silvia Rumors

Monday, May 5th, 2008

Drift fans, rejoice! Nissan is trying to resurrect the next-generation Silvia to go head to head with the RWD Toyobaru coupe in 2011. Except, Nissan wants to beat its competition to the punch with a late 2010 debut. Japan’s Best Car magazine says that the new will ride on the FM platform which underpins everything from the Z to the Infiniti FX. Power will come from either a naturally aspirated 2.0L or a turbocharged four ranging from 1.6 to 1.8L with an expected horsepower rating of up to 215. Of course, lightness will be a key engineering trait.
