Nissan has just announced the Dualis Cross Rider, which has been given the once-over by in-house tuner Autech. It looks a bit sleeker and if I was that giant robot in the background I’d definitely want to transform into this than the the plastic-covered stock version. I’m not sure about those wheels though. Rear pic after the jump. (more…)

So that’s what they mystery car was from the G8 Summit lineup. I had heard Nissan had an FCV X-Trail in the works, but as you can see, this light blue cornering machine doesn’t look anything like the current X-Trail, or even this other green-cred seeking X-Trail Clean Diesel. Congrats, Nissan, you have fooled me.
But you can’t fool me into thinking this FCV’s lap of 11:58 around the Nürburgring really counts for much, because it’s the only hydrogen powered car to ever attempt a record. Let’s get the Honda FCX Clarity out there and see how it fares. It wouldn’t be it’s only time out on the track.

It’s coming, it’s coming, the Cube is coming! As you know I’ve been a long-time admirer of the Cube ever since I first laid eyes on and drove one in Japan. For years, there have been rumors that the funky asymmetrical two-box compact is coming to the US and I have been spasming at the possiblity
Nissan USA announced it officially recently and and has now created a minisite for American Cubists (first 500 people can even get a free T-shirt, which still works at the time of this posting). So why am I not happy? Because the Cube coming to the States is going to be the next-generation model, whose world premiere will be at the LA Auto Show in November. The current Cube is one of the best automotive designs of all time, and it will be hard to top. And in fact, if this spyshot is correct, impossible to top.

Nissan is introducing a new educational program called Design Studio Waku Waku to get fifth and sixth grade students interested in automotive design. Kiddies will be able to submit their own sketches and drawings and get feedback from Nissan’s professional industrial designers. Hot damn! I would have killed to participate in a program like this when I was a kid.

The seven most powerful men and one woman who lead the eight most powerful nations on the planet and make decisions that affect the lives of all of its inhabitants are meeting at a secret evil ice cave somewhere in Hokkaido right now. As part of the G8 Summit, Japan’s automakers are showing off their fleet of green vehicles. I can’t believe this, but I’m at a loss for what the first one on the left is, but the rest are the Subaru Stella electric vehicle, Honda FCX Clarity hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, and the Mazda RX-8 and Premacy hydrogen rotaries. Toyota donated 78 cars, ranging from a hydrogen-powered Kluger/Highlander to Crown and Lexus LS600h hybrids. Mitsubishi contributed i-MIEVs while Nissan showed off X-Trial clean diesels and Suzuki supplied SX4 FCVs.

I finally figured out what a Gachapin is, and the answer to that is that it’s an adolescent dinosaur, who with his friend Mukku the red Yeti, star in a Sesame Street-like kids show on Fuji TV. The Nissan Serena has been cross-promoting with the characters, and are now displaying a Gachapin and Mukku themed minivans at its Nagoya Gallery showroom. Follow the jump to see the Mukku Serena. As you may have guessed, this latest edition of the Nissan Serena combines the features of a self-retracting side step with a GPS and rear entertainment system to create - voilá - the 20S Step+Navi Selection.

According to this story on Gotham Cable News, Wayne Enterprises has been on a multinational shopping spree buying up companies, mostly high-tech firms with military contracts. However, the montage of purchased companies included this image, which is the unmistakable dashboard of the 2007 Nissan Pivo2 concept, complete with R2-D2-like droid copilot. Does this mean we’ll see a VK56DE-powered Tumbler or a GT-R pulling out of the east wing of Wayne Manor? God, one can only hope.

Ah, it must be nice to work for a big name auto website. Not only did Inside Line get to go to Portugal on a press junket to drive some Nissans around in scenery that’s probably more beautiful than my wildest dreams, they got a sneek peak at a new RWD coupe for the Infiniti lineup. It’s based on the 370Z and possibly will be powered by a 2.5L V6 while the upcoming Silvia successor will get an inline four.

The Nissan March W Happy was just announced. As far as I can tell, the special edition consists of 1.) a standard Nissan March and 2.) polka dots. I think Dubya wouldn’t be caught dead in this thing.
