We just might be on the brink of another sports car renaissance, people. It’ll be like the early 90s all over again, when Honda, Toyota and Nissan unleashed the NSX, Supra and 300ZX on an unsuspecting American public.

According to Inside Line, Honda CEO Takeo Fukui has commanded his minions to summon an NSX that will obliterate the Nürburgring lap times of the Nissan GT-R and Lexus LF-A. The rumored weapon of choice will be a 5.5L V10 with 550hp and 420lb-ft of torque mated to an 8MT and SH-AWD.

The idea of an all-out Clash of the Titans Japanese supercar battle royale is something I’ve been waiting for for 10 motherf’in’ years. I’ll be watching this one closely and hope with every fiber of my being that it will live up to the full epicosity potential inherent in the concept.

A supercar war is about to heat up in Japan, with Nissan’s GT-R already out, and Toyota’s Lexus LF-A in the works. Now Honda’s Acura NSX has been caught testing in the streets around the Nürburgring wearing the skin of a zebra that’s been struck by lightning. The cab-backward profile suggests it will indeed be front-engined, but with a rumored V10 under the hood, who’s complaining?

Honda NSX Owner’s Meeting

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

Not to be outdone, NSX owners get their own shindig too. Basic and advanced courses are available, ranging from ¥63,000 for the one-day and ¥126,000 for the two-day. That’s quite a bit steeper than the other courses, but if you’re loaded enough to rock an NSX, why not. Again, owners have their choice between Twin Ring Motegi and Suzuka, but only one two-day beginner’s course is offered at each of two locations, Twin Ring Motegi and Suzuka, both falling on June 8-9.

For the advanced NSX driver, there’s the one-day on May 5, or two-day courses on May 11-12, September 14-15, October 20-21, November 30-December 1, or December 21-22.
