Honda Accord Comes to Japan

The bigger, plusher (ie, less sporty) car we know as the Acura TSX comes to Japan as the Honda Accord, accompanied by a wagon version we don’t get. There’s not much to say about it, except that Hondas continue to grow farther and farther from their sporting roots. When the previous generation Accord came to be, what Americans called the Accord was actually named the Inspire in Japan, while the Japanese Accord remained true to its sportier roots in the form our Acura TSX. Since they are both now cushy luxury sedans, the schism seems utterly pointless.
More importantly, this is the first Honda wagon that I have disliked. It looks bulky and rides tall, like a Subaru Outback. All the sleekness of the previous generation is gone, much like the sedan it’s based on. At least that’s one less forbidden JDM car I’ll be lusting after.
