Subaru Legacy STI S402

Finally, a special edition car that gets my blood flowing. Here’s a dedicated performance version of the already potent Subaru Legacy tuned by Subaru Technica International, better known by its initials STI.

Let’s start with the hardware. The standard 2.5L flat four turbo gets 285hp, variable valve timing and high-flow exhaust. Bilstein dampers stiffen up the ride while giving it a lower stance and the suspension is a network of pillow balls. Brembo 6-pot calipers up front and 2-pot calipers in the rear restrain the beast. And lastly, Everything rolls on 18-inch BBS wheels wrapped with Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tires.

The fenders have also been widened a subtle 20mm and the whole car given an aggressive aero kit. Inside, new gauges, and aluminum shift knob and Momo steering wheel complete the package.

The best part? This mofo comes in WAGON form. Hallelujah. Hallelujah, I say! Wagons are my favoritest body style ever and I’d marry this thing if it was legal in my state. Unfortunately, this won’t be legal in any state. In fact, like so many other JDM treats, it’ll stay on the far side of the Pacific.

Naturally, all this comes at a price. When they go on sale June 27th, the sedan will start at ¥5,355,000 and the wagon at ¥5,491,500. That’s Lexus territory, people. Oh, and absolutely no haggling will be possible, since only 402 of them will be made. Ever. Happy dreaming.
